RAMP is a forward-thinking, active, complex non-profit and we are currently seeking an energetic, knowledgeable individual to counsel, advocate, train and assist participants in Project Search DHS-VR Program to achieve vocational goals they have set for themselves and improve their financial standing along with increased independence through work.  Success in this role is measured by the success of the program participants.

RAMP's annual budget is approximately $2 million and consists of a variety of funding sources from State and Federal contracts, United Way support, private donors, foundation grants and more. We currently employ 34 staff from four offices, serving the counties of Winnebago, Boone, Stephenson and DeKalb.

RAMP's culture is different from other work cultures. We work in a Results Only Work Environment (ROWE) where it is all about responsibility, accountability and autonomy. We don't manage an employee's schedule, we manage results. An employee is independently responsible to create their schedule to meet the needs of their position and the organization. A successful applicant is self-motivated, reliable, trustworthy, dedicated, and collaborative and forward thinking!

This position requires an understanding of the principle of the Independent Living (IL) philosophy and a genuine desire to carry out this philosophy.  Prior successes needed for this position are, experience in encouraging, motivating and teaching skills to students (sometimes repetitively) until the student is proficient.  The work site setting is primarily at Mercy Health on Rockton Road, with occasional off-site meetings.

Minimum requirements are:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position or equivalent experience that would substitute for a formal education.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with the social and professional impact of disability on a family and a community.
  • Working knowledge of community resources for coordinating skills trainings, educational opportunities, accommodations of disabilities, and other resources needed for participants to be work ready.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on ability to easily talk to others. 
  • Ability to advocate effectively and assertively with participants with disabilities and the community without controlling or inserting your own choices.
  • Demonstrates creativity, initiative, strong and responsible decision making abilities.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to meetings with participants and community entities.
  • Must be willing and available to work occasional evening or weekend hours, if needed.
  • Time management, attention to detail and working knowledge of Microsoft Office will be skills repeatedly tested in this position.
